Work on yourself first. As human beings, we’ve picked up a lot of unhealthy baggage and trauma throughout our lives that create emotional imbalances which we can’t help but project onto the people around us, including our children. I remember trying to “help” my son with his math homework when he was about six years old. I had brought an intensity with me that was not appropriate for a child of that age (or any age), which resulted in my son finishing his homework in tears.
