The Hope in Practice (HIP) program is an afterschool initiative designed to inspire and support students by combining inspirational videos from influential figures with a curriculum focused on finding purpose, making meaning, and building support networks.
The program includes individual assessments, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis and treatment through needle-free acupuncture, and a movement and meditation regimen tailored to each student’s needs. Trauma-informed care and vulnerable sharing sessions with trained facilitators help students establish a sustainable support structure.
Additionally, students receive education on the effects of substances on the brain and training on preventing opioid overdoses.
This innovative feature combines art therapy and sound bath healing to foster a therapeutic environment that supports emotional and psychological wellness.
Needle-free acupuncture offers a non-invasive alternative to traditional acupuncture, utilizing various techniques to stimulate acupoints without the use of needles.
Meditative movements, like qi gong and yoga, enhance internal physical awareness, health, and vitality, while also reducing stress, anxiety, and depression to improve quality of life.
These ceremonies deepen participants’ connections, fostering a sense of community and shared values that extend beyond the treatment process, enhancing meaning and purpose.
